Visitor search area with desk; PC workstation with access to SMR database, scanning/photocopying; extensive library of national and local periodicals, monographs, books and other sources; large aerial photographic collection and other photographs; digital early edition OS maps.
Range of information available:
Records of archaeological and historic finds, monuments (including historic buildings), and landscapes, and recording events including fieldwork reports, mapping and photographs. Designations information. Historic mapping. Geological mapping.

the Northamptonshire SMR is open to public consultation but an appointment must be made in advance by phoning 01604 237246 or emailing at
HER@northamptonshire.gov.uk
. We have a dedicated search area and SMR staff are present to give guidance and advice where required. Photocopying within copyright law is permitted at the current cost of 5p per A4 sheet. Similarly, scanned copies of photographs are also available as hard or digital copy. We may also be able to provide digital copies of recent reports.
Commercial consultations are charged a fee dependent on the time needed to process the enquiry (currently £75 minimum for up to 3.5 hours work, with an additional £25 per hour on top).
