Range of information available:
HER contains comprehensive information on local archaeology up to the post-medieval period. Selected information only (for example, industrial remains, military remains, significant historic buildings) for post-medieval and modern periods. Historic landscape character data; aerial photo interpretation plots; complete modern geo-referenced vertical aerial photo surveys (via Geographic Information System); comprehensive geo-referenced historic Ordnance Survey mapping from 1886 (via GIS); collection of vertical and oblique aerial photographs; archaeological artefact collections and archives; historic photograph collection and historic map facsimile collection; local studies library; selection of archaeological monographs and national and local journals, comprehensive grey literature library.
