Range of information available:
All paper files are now stored off-site so need to be requested back to county hall prior to any visit. Some files have been digitised - if so they are available via computers in the office. Files include fieldwork reports, aerial photographs, historic building photographs, RF Hartley's ridge and furrow maps and paper copies of research relating to various sites. We do not hold historic maps (i.e. tithe maps); these are held at the Record Office in Wigston, south of Leicester.

We prefer to answer requests via e-mail. This service is open to members of the public and archaeological contractors, though there is a charge for commercial consultations. Appointments can be made to visit the HER though the files required must be ordered in advance of any visit.
