Parks & Gardens UK is a unique national web resource which provides database record information, educational articles and other resources on historic parks, gardens and designed landscapes in the United Kingdom.

The website gives free access to over 7,000 site records for parks and gardens, with more than 6,000 sites in England. They include country estates, public parks, pleasure gardens, cemeteries, garden squares, allotments, botanical gardens, community gardens, civic landscapes, arboretums, plant nurseries, private domestic gardens, village greens and urban green spaces, institutional or commercial gardens and archaeological remains.

Also featured in the records are more than 2,000 biographies of the people associated with historic parks and gardens, including designers, architects, gardeners, horticulturists, artists and writers.

All the information on the website has been contributed by volunteers from county gardens trusts, local authorities, individuals, and other heritage organisations. The database has been set up so that information can be added and new records created at any time. In this way, we anticipate that the records will continue to grow and improve over time, with further depth added as new research becomes available.

Parks & Gardens UK is a charity and limited company (charity number: 1129545, company number: 6294532).
