NZ 16 NW WYLAM HOLEYN HALL ROAD

Country house, now subdivided into 2 houses. 1851, and additions in 1858 by John Dobson. Ashlar with Welsh slate roof. 2-storey double-span main block and projecting rear wing; 3-storey, one-bay tower. 6-bay garden front with l-bay tower on left. Raised alternating quoins. Windows in main block in raised surrounds with mid-jamb projections and 4-pane sashes on ground floor; 12-pane sashes above. Slightly later tower has large tripartite French window in architrave with cornice above on brackets. 1st and 2nd floor windows are 2- light in architraves. The whole front has sill bands to each floor, top cornice and balustrade.

Doorway to rear probably later C19. Round-headed with closely-set radiating glazing bars to fanlight and finely-moulded eared architrave with keystone; cornice over. Hipped roofs with 3 stone corniced ridge stacks and one external stack on left wall of tower.
