HER 10907 DESCRIPTION:- c.1880 - 'Pillow-well Level (Coal)' is recorded on the OS 1st edition 25" map. {Source Work 5134.} c.1900 - Shown as 'Pillowell Coal Level' on the OS 2nd edition 25" map. {Source Work 5136.} c.1925 - Shown as 'Pillowell Coal Level (Disused)' on the OS 3rd edition 25" map. {Source Work 5138} Minor colliery site noted in source 3311. 2003 - This area was mapped at 1:10,000 scale as part of the English Heritage: Gloucestershire NMP project. The earthwork remains of the post medieval colliery Pillowell Level were seen on the western edge of Pillowell centred on SO 6241 0620. The colliery remains consisted of two spoil heaps centred at SO 6241 0623 and SO 6241 0612 and possibly three nearby buildings. {Source Works 4249, 7549 and 6880.} |
