9/98 Dovecote approximately - 50 metres to north-east of Lower Newton Farmhouse

Dovecote, now field shelter. Probably late C17. Red brick with plain tile roof. One storey and loft. Dentil brick eaves cornice; crow- stepped gable ends, that to south with toothed brick band near apex. Blocked circular opening in gable end to south and segmental-headed doorway beneath; loft opening to east. Interior not inspected. The dovecote stands to the north-west of the moated site of Lower Newton Farmhhouse (now demolished). The present Lower Newton Farmhouse is a late C20 building and not included in this list. V.C.H.
