HER 2913 DESCRIPTION:-
Location of a now demolished (1965) tollhouse on the Nailsworth Turnpike created by Act 20/21 Geo.III c.84 of 1780. The 2" preliminary Ordnance Survey drawings show teo bars and Bryant's map marks it TB (Tiltups Inn). Demolished for road widening. By the door fronting the road is a small hatch, presumably the ticket window. The building was verified by a Mr Kimsbrey, a relative of the last pike keeper who got 2/6 a week "and lamp oil." {Source Works 9302 & 3192.}
