HER 6245 DESCRIPTION:-
1840 - 'School Barn' shown on rectified copy of the 1840 tithe map and apportionment. Field immediately to the south (centre point SO54660789) called 'School Piece'. {Source Work 6634.}
Shown on OS 2nd-3rd edition 1:2500 maps. {Source Works 5136 & 5138.}
Probably tithe barn off the Bell's Grammar School Newland, and apparently has large cistern under it that always has water in it. Owned by Lodges Farm, well maintained and used for sheep/storage etc. {Pers. comm. J. Colombo, 1983.}
