Houghton Conquest windmill, built in first quarter of 19C. Still working c1910. Now ruined.

A tall brick tower stands on a post mill mound. The doors and windows pierce the brickwork in a straight line on either side. Cracking is occuring on both lines. Originally 4 sails.
Machinery details: too dangerous to examine closely
Drive system: C. I. windshaft, Brake whel, upright shaft, great spur wheel.
Mill machniery: Underdrive to? 3prs of stones now missing.

Post Mill built on site before present mill - mapped in 1809. In 1826 the present tower mill was built.
