Beside the disused canal which runs to Langford on the River Ivel stands Shefford Mill. In its heyday it must have formed a very picturesque object when viewed across the water. Although it ceased working about 1880 some fragments of the sails hung on well into the 1930's, when the last of these, together with the sailshaft and fan-staging, were removed and a new roof fitted to make the old tower weatherproof again for use as a store place.
