1. Denny Abbey is surrounded by 15 acres of earthworks, including fishponds and unusual rectangular ditched plots which may have been gardens tended by individual monks. The 1880 OS Map shows an extensive moat partly edged with trees and a small walled garden divided into four by cross paths. This belonged to the farmhouse there.
