Summary

Reported finding of a Roman Road whilst laying a bowling green in Elworth and that the line could be traced by the stones showing on the surface, up and beyond the railway. Found about 1 foot below the surface and consisted of a soilid bed of gravel about 15 inches thick, and four to five yards wide. During the clearance of this site for a new supermakret, no evidence for a road was observed.
King Street Roman road runs between Wilderspool and Middlewich and then onto Chesterton in Staffordshire
