Full description

On 8th July 1372, the Bishop of Exeter gave a licence to William Lamborn and his wife for 'a chapel in their mansion of Treres'; a further licence was granted in 1410, and in 1413 John Arundell de Trereys had licence for a chapel (b1, b2). The Tithe Award field-name 'Chapel Close', adjacent to Trerice House, probably indicates the site of the chapel (b3). By 1650, the chapel appears to have been abandoned and an oratory set up within the house.
