Full description

House II at Crane Godrevy was constructed in the sixteenth century to the south of house I and was excavated in 1969. The ground floor plan consisted of two rooms with internal measurements of approximately 4.7m by 4.2m and 2.4m by 3.0m. The house and farm were abandoned towards the end of the seventeenth century when they became immersed in the drifting sand, after which the settlement remained deserted. The OS surveyed the site at 1:2500 in 1962 and the OS maps of 1963 and 1974 show the site of a manor house.
The house is visible as an indistinct earth bank on air photographs (p1) showing the site before it was excavated, and was plotted as part of the NMP.
