Full description
The settlement of Botelet is first recorded in the Domesday survey of 1086 (b1, b2). The settlement was held by Oswulf before 1066; there were 4 villagers and 12 smallholders with 50 acres of pasture and 60 acres of woodland (b3). The name is Cornish and contains the element bod meaning 'dwelling' and a possible personal name (b2). Botelet is still occupied (6617.01).
