Full description
The settlement of Godolphin is first recorded in 1166 when it spelt "Wotolta" (b2). The name is Cornish and contains the element go meaning 'slight, sub' (applied as a prefix) and an unknown second part (b3). Godolphin Hall is still occupied. The name has also been applied to Godolphin Cross, a C19 settlement.
