Full description

The settlement of Sheviock is first recorded in the Domesday survey of 1086 when it was held by the church of Tavistock (b1). The name is Cornish and contains the element sevi meaning 'place of strawberries' (b3). Sheviock is still occupied, and is a substantial village with church (6455).
