Full description
House A1 at Carn Euny adjoins House A (28920.01) which is to the south-east, and House B (28920.03) which is to the south. A semi-circular gully on the north side demarcates a house 7.3m in diameter with six post holes two of which were located by Christie beneath the wall of House B. The house walls may have been built of turf or wattle, which would not have survived, in the centre; also much burnt material was found. Plain flared-rim jars and sherds of roulette-decorated pottery date this house to the 2nd century BC, though occupation continued into Phase III. This house was the only one of its kind in the village of which the ground plan could not be established by excavation (h2, b1). The monument was included in the Schedule on 28/9/1934 and the scheduling was updated 18/3/1996.
