Full description

The remains of several huts in the interior of Chun Castle (30514) are recorded by Leeds who excavated one of them in 1925 (h1, b5). The OS who surveyed the site at 1:2500 in 1961 record that the one excavated hut on the north side of the interior of the hillfort is now a pit, and others on the south side are in poor condition, surviving as a series of pits up to 1.5m deep, joined on their northern extremities by traces of a stone bank 0.4m high (h4). The remains of the hut circles are visible on aerial photographs (p1-p4) and were plotted as part of the NMP.
