Full description

The deer park at pinsla is first recorded in 1700 (b1), and a pale is shown here on martyn's map of 1748 (b2). The park belonged to the robartes family; it was disparked in the 18th century (b3). Os could find no evidence for the extent of the deer park (h1), but martyn's map (b2) indicates that the pale extended around the settlements of kenketh and pinsla. On the east, the boundary suggested by martyn is a very substantial one (h2). The date of origin of the park is not known: but the place name of the settlement of kenketh may indicate its existence before 1250 (see smr 2980).
