Full description
During excavations at Castle Dore, Radford noted rectilinear alignments of stone-packed post holes. These, together with amphorae sherds and glass beads were interpreted as post-Roman. Radford suggested the post holes represented an aisled hall with attached kitchen, possibly the 'lys' (court) of King Mark (b1). Quinnell and Harris have re-dated the artefacts to the Iron Age. The structures are now interpreted as granaries associated with the Iron Age round houses (see 26610.03).
