Full description

The post-Roman occupation of the Crane Godrevy site commenced around AD1100 when a small rectangular building, House X, was constructed. It is set into a shallow rock-cut hollow, but only the lower courses of the walls survive. The hollow is intersected by the eastern wall of House I (37066.3). The excavated remains measured approx 2.4m wide internallly, and yielded Sandy Lane and Grass-marked pottery. The site was surveyed at 1:2500 by the OS in 1962 and is listed by Thomas in 1965.
