Full description
One of two further earth and stone bastions indentified by the OS field worker (h1). They have both been partially destroyed by coastal erosion, though their banks remain in part up to 0.6m high by 2.0m wide. These are part of a group of four batteries (7454) and are connected to breastwork (7455). The site was visited in 1988 (h2) and the battery found to be a bank curving to the southern (landward) side at each end, with some evidence of levelling behind it. The bank was of earth and stone; a few blocks of stone partly visible through the turf, suggested stone facing. It was approx 18m long (not clearly defined on its west side), 1.0m wide and averaging 0.3m high inside and 0.4m outside.
The monument was included in the Schedule on 16/11/1998.
