Full description
Henderson describes a very large circular mound of earth and rubble stone, its interior slightly quarried, which he believes to be a barrow (b1). He states that the hill on which it is situated is called Cregou Hill, claiming that the Cornish name includes the plural of the element cruc. Cruc means 'barrow, hillock', and may refer to either a natural or an archaeological feature (b2). The mound is marked as 'tumulus' on the 1963 OS Map. In 1965 the OS found it consisted of a large mound 1.5m high, probably the remains of a bowl barrow whose north-east quadrant has been completely destroyed and whose centre has been dug out to below ground level (h1). In 1978 the barrow was described as semi-circular in plan (h3).
The monument was included in the Schedule on 19/1/1977 and the scheduling was revised on 17/5/2000.
