Full description

A redan or small gun platform behind an earth and stone bank associated with the C17 breastwork around the Garrison (7904.03), partially or wholly destroyed by coastal erosion, was situated at approximately this location south of an C18 stone built redan (7906.22). No platform at this site appears on the 1655 map (b1) but an angled redan is shown on the 1742 plan (b3). In 1990 slight traces of an earthwork with tumbled stone were noted in the cliff edge (h1). The monument was included in the Schedule on 19/3/1998.
(b10) - Parkes, C, 1994, Pers Comm, ,

This site was visited in 2005-06, and its condition was assessed and recorded (10), the site was revisited in 2008-10 when it was suggested that any surviving remains had probably been destroyed by gardening (11, 12).
