Full description
A reference to enclosures named 'Great Century', 'Lounge Century' and 'the pleinge place' of 3.5 acres (1.42ha) at St Mabyn is mentioned in a terrier of 1613 (CRO ARD/TER/304). A subsequent terrier of 1679 (CRO ARD/TER/305) records only the 'Lounge Century' but gives its position as bordering the east side of lands owned by Sir John Carew, on the south with lands of Jonathan Prideaux, on the west with highways, and on the north with lands of the heirs of Edward Panby. A field visit in 2000 by Lyon identified the possible site of the plain an gwarry to be in the field named 'Long Sentry' (b2).
