Full description
Post-Roman pottery was recovered by Leeds during the 1925, 1927 and 1930 excavations at Chun Castle (30514) (h1, h2, h3, b5, b8). The finds include Bi amphora sherds of c500 AD from the Aegean consisting of a handle and combed fragments and indicates a secondary period of occupation of the hill fort (b11). A complete jar with a slightly narrowed neck, of grass-marked other than bar-lug pottery, was found in a hut built against the inner rampart during the secondary period of occupation (b13).
