Full description

The western portal of Polperrow tunnel on the Cornwall Railway. The portal is of bedded slatestone, and has a semi-circular arch with a U profile. There are channelled voussoirs which are not cut masonry blocks but made up of layers of smaller stones. There is a string course above the arch and a low parapet.
