Full description

The cross stands at the foot of the east side of the wall dividing the churchyard from the new burial ground (b1). According to Langdon writing in 1896, it had been brought from Sellan many years before (b1). The cross is 2ft 6in (0.76m) high, the width of the head is 1ft 11in (0.58m) and is 8in (0.2m) thick. Only the front is visible, on which is a short latin cross in relief. It has been broken at the place where the bead stops on the shaft (b1). The monument was included in the Schedule on 27/10/1967 and the scheduling was affirmed on 12/11/1996.
Sellan Cross was lifted, repaired by replacing a corroded iron pin with one of stainless steel and then relocated, on a new base, to a new position some three metres to the south-west of the one it had formerly occupied, during restoration works undertaken by the HES in 2004 (b6).
