Full description

At this approximate location there have been reports of a second fogou associated with the courtyard house settlement of Chysauster (36008) since the mid-19th century (b1). Blight's plan of the settlement in 1861 shows the remains of a tunnelled subterranean passage, a vau, though it appears that later commentators suspected this to have been a sunken way (b4). Despite Blight's persistent claims that there were two fogous at Chysauster (the other one being 36008.11) (b1, b2), no extant remains of the alleged feature have been found (b4, b5, b6). A recent field survey by CEU and CAU in 1983 found no traces (h3).
