A probable pit, possibly a former quarry or extractive pit, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs to the north of Abbotsham, centred on circa SS42472696. The possible pit is irregularly shaped, measuring up to 16 metres across at the widest point. The date of the pit is unknown; it is not depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch first edition map of the 1880s-1890s, but it appears to cut a former field boundary interpreted as being post-medieval in date, and is therefore probably post-medieval or modern in date.
