A small earthwork bank and ditch of probable Second World War date and military function are visible close to the shore on Braunton Burrows on aerial photographs of 1945. The earthworks are circa 40 metres south of a probable temporary military trackway, visible running eastwards from the shore towards the Engineer Demolition Range. The earthworks are potentially associated with a small structure visible 30 metres to the north, and are probably part of the Second World War U.S. Army Assault Training Centre on Braunton Burrows. The ditch and bank are not visible by June 1953 discernible.
