Summary

Remains of the Shippon and carthouse at the deserted Deancombe Farm, probably built around 1858 when Sir Massey Lopes had the farmhouse built. The farmstead itself dates from the 14th century.

Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Structure is depicted on the late 19th century historic map.

Deancombe (new) The shippen, on the north of the yard, is mostly fallen. The carthouse, contiguous east has a particularly good round arch entrance, with loft over. East wall standing to full height. Probably built in the 19th century on this level area to replace older buildings to the westward.
Deserted around 1922.
