A dark oval cropmark or soilmark, 9 by 6 metres in size, with pale irregular border is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1951. It is fairly indistinct and could be a surface mark from agricultural operations. However it is possible that the mark denotes a cut feature such as a quarry pit which had been infilled, the paler border being drier ground caused by water draining into the buried pit. No features are depicted here on the historic mapping and if this was a quarry it probably went out of use prior to the late nineteenth century. It is unlikely that any earthworks survive as this is not visible on any other available aerial photographs, and caution should be applied in interpretation.
