The main structure of Little Kiln appears to have been erected between 1861 and 1889, over and incoporating part of previous structures. Walls uncovered during current excavations appear to date to the 1842-1861 period, as does a surviving small range of what appear to be a lavatory block. They have been photographed. The name 'Little Kiln' seems to have been given to the property after 1957. There is currently no evidence of a kiln structure within the site. However the locations of 18th century kilns, pottery works and waste tips known to have been within the immediate area have never been established.
