Full description

Little cartshed. Cart shed. Later used as a cattle shed. A small, gable-ended cart shed with an open north end, overlooking the orchards. In the mid-20th century, it was converted to a cattle shed with concrete and tubular steel stalls. Chert; rubble stone, brick/concrete block repairs. The brick dressings are secondary. Pantile roof. A-frame. 3-bays. A-frames on cross pads, with lap -jointed collars held with 2 iron spikes each end. The apex joint is hidden both sides by a plate yoke. Single set of staggered butt purlins with tusk tenons and a ridgeboard. Timber window/s. Two timber-framed windows in west wall, with plank shutters. North gable end was originally open, but is now filled with corrugated iron, with a door through. The south end bay is boarded off and a hoist, which the farmer remembers as a hoist for pig carcasses, has been constructed from a branch fixed along the base of the ridge. It is set into the south gable end and fixed to the truss with a wrought iron straps. There are two chains suspended from the branch. Currently disused.
