A network of curvilinear narrow earthwork banks, covering approximately a third of a hectare of Abbey Park, is visible on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s. Despite the Second World War date of the photographs, the earthworks do not have a distinctive military character and since the area is named as a putting green on the 1930s Ordnance Survey mapping the earthworks are likely to relate to mid twentieth century recreational activity. The area has been levelled and no earthworks are visible on the most recent available aerial photographs dating to 2012, although it is possible that some slight earthworks or below ground remains could survive.
