Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Maps and Apportionments (Website). SDV349463.

Plot 711 on the Withycombe Raleigh Tithe Map of 1839 is recorded as 'Pit Park' within the Tithe Apportionment.

A former extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the east of Exeter Road. The former extraction pit, which is sub-oval in shape and measures approximately 25m in length by 21m in width, remains visible on aerial photographs up until 1951 and has been completely levelled and the site redeveloped for housing by 1960.
