A roughly oval earthwork pit, visible on aerial photographs taken in low light conditions under snow cover in 1963, and on images derived from Lidar data captured in 2006, could be an extraction pit that predates the late nineteenth century, or perhaps a natural feature. Earthworks appear to survive.

A roughly oval earthwork pit, circa 30 metres in maximum width, is visible on aerial photographs taken in low light conditions under snow cover in 1963, and on images derived from Lidar data captured in 2006. It is not depicted on 1880s-1890s Ordnance Survey mapping, but could be an extraction pit that predates the late nineteenth century, or perhaps a natural feature. Earthworks appear to survive.
