Orchard banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as a series of earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards to the west of Withycombe Barton. The site of the orchard is located on the eastern sloping side of a coombe and is first symbolised on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The orchards have, however, been completely grubbed out by1946, although a series of parallel northwest to southeast aligned linear earthwork banks on which the fruit trees were established remain visible. A number of additional earthwork banks may be present within the monument polygon defined as part of this survey, although were to indistinct to transcribe. The earthwork banks are clearly visible on aerial photographs of 1950 and by 1969 have been largely covered with vegetation, although remain visible as slight earthworks. By 1988 the orchard banks appear to have been completely levelled.
