Orchard banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as a series of earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards to the east of Withycombe Barton. The site of the orchard is located on the southwest and southeast facing slope on ground dissected by two converging streams and is first symbolised on the Withycombe Raleigh parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48. The orchards have, however, been largely grubbed out by 1946, although a series of parallel north to south and northwest to southeast aligned earthwork banks on which the fruit trees were established remain visible. Additional earthwork banks may be present within the northeastern monument polygon defined as part of this survey, but were too indistinct to transcribe. The earthwork banks are clearly visible on aerial photographs up until 1950, although by 1969 have been completely levelled and partly given over to a burial ground of the Church of St. John in the Wilderness.
