Stanbrook, M., 1991, Old Dartmoor Schools Remembered, 73-5, photograph (Monograph). SDV359884.

Listed in the account books for the Widecombe and Dartmoor Charity Schools is Brimpts, where children were taught by Mary Hamlyn in 1815, followed by Elizabeth Hamlyn. Further mentions from 1830. There is a verbal tradition that at some point a school was held in a barn belonging to the old farm before it was enlarged in 1855. Part of the barn can be seen in front of the present farmhouse.

Dartmoor National Park Authority, 1993 - 1997, Dartmoor National Park Authority Farmstead Survey 1993-1997, January 1993 (Report - Survey). SDV344544.

Survey depicts building (originally possible shippon, now stable) and describes construction. Main range thought to pre-date the 19th century. Northern lean-to maybe mid-19th century or later addition.
Main range is single storied and gabled; asbestos slate roof. Modern rendered addition to the front right. Main range now stable; thought to have been shippon with low loft. Constructed from exposed granite rubblestone. Masonry style of this building looks earlier than the rest of the farmstead. Lean-to constructed from roughly coursed granite with corrugated iron roof. See survey for photographs and further detail.
