An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards and on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012, to the west of Woodlands Farm. The former extraction pit is first symbolised on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of approximately the 1880’s-90’s. It is sub-oval in shape, measures approximately 37m in length by 19m in width and abuts, and so post-dates, a former field boundary depicted on historic mapping. The earthwork pit is located within an area dominated by similar such earthwork features. It remains faintly visible as an earthwork pit, although has been largely levelled, on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012.
