A probable quarry pit is visible as an irregular dark cropmark with a pale border, circa 32 by 22 metres in maximum visible extent, on aerial photographs taken in 1946. Several ‘old chalk’ and ‘old flint’ pits are depicted in this vicinity on the late nineteenth century mapping, but no features are depicted in this location, so any quarry here would probably have passed out of use before the late nineteenth century.
