Summary

Ashridge, a medieval manor house. A new house was built in 1800, the old building becoming the farm. However, the carved oak beams from the old hall were brought into the kitchen roof of the new house. An old horse threshing machine was in the barn. First reference to the manor circa 1380 (fulford williams).

Ashridge, a medieval manor house. A new house was built in 1800, the old building becoming the farm. However, the carved oak beams from the old hall were brought into the kitchen roof of the new house. An old horse threshing machine was in the barn. First reference to the manor circa 1380 (fulford williams).

Vis=28/6/1971 (os) ashridge farm house has been almost entirely demolished. Fragments of cob walling survive and one ruined outhouse of cob with brick and stone patching, but nothing medieval remains.
