The internal war memorials of the South Hams are also largely constructed from oak and other dark hardwoods, although lighter coloured woods became more widely used in the commemoration of the Second World War, as at St. Leonard's Church, Halwell.

Photographs show the World War II memorial board placed immediately beneath the World War I memorial board. It is a simple rectangular wooden board with the inscription '1939 WORLD WAR 1945' followed by three names and either RAF or RN, then 'THEY DIED THAT WE MAY LIVE'.
