Possible orchard banks and former infield boundaries of medieval to post-medieval date were visible as earthworks at Roach Farm on aerial photographs of the 1940s and 1960s. The probable orchard banks define terraces or platforms that correspond with infield boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Clyst Hydon. The curvilinear earthwork ditch immediately to the east falls comfortably within the extant field pattern and is probably evidence of a former infield boundary that was removed prior to the 1840s. Slight traces survive to be visible north-east of the farmstead but most have probably been levelled during the modern expansion of the farm buildings.
