The extraction pits are visible as earthwork pits.

Extraction pits of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as two adjacent earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1966 onwards, on the eastern side of Sock Hill. The two oval shaped earthworks measure up to 24m in length and are located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded, including an two adjacent extraction pits of similar nature located approximately 93m to the southwest. The earthwork pits remain visible on digital images derived from Lidar data captured between 2005 and 2010.
