A quarry is illustrated within plot 50 on the Brixton Tithe Map of 1839, recorded as 'Quarry and Rubble' within the Tithe Apportionment. The site is located to the east of Spriddlestone, on the west bank of Cofflete Creek. The site is also illustrated on the First and Second Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey maps (c.1880s and 1904-6) where it is labelled as an 'Old Quarry.' The quarry is still depicted on the Ordnance Survey Master Map.
